Charles William Anthony Dilkes, 76, Of Lyndhurst

LYNDHURST, N.J. -- Charles William Anthony Dilkes, 76, of Lyndhurst, died Thursday, Oct. 13. 

Born Sept. 8, 1940, in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of Lyndhurst. 

He was a very outgoing and gregarious person who once you became his friend you were always his friend. Many of those friends he met as a professional tractor trailer driver and proud member of the Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Dilkes; daughters, Laura Thoresen and husband Bryant, Christine Dilkes Cook and husband Kerry; his granddaughter, Chelsea Dilkes; his brothers, Louis Dilkes, Robert Florre, Joseph Dilkes, Andrew Florre and Anthony Florre; and sister, Janet Florre. 

He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Dilkes; mother, Virginia; brothers, Raymond Ruggiero, Herbert Dilkes, Frank Florre, Jimmy Florre; and sister, Antoniette Florre. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 324 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Cremation will be private. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
