“It’s pretty cool,” Sarah Regan, 24, of North Arlington told Daily Voice after an in-store ceremony on Monday. “I’m going to sign boxes and give them to my friends and family -- whether they want them or not.”
Regan and co-worker Sigrid Kelly, who didn't attend the event, raised $18,874 for ShopRite's Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest.
General Mills sponsors the annual friendly competition among employees from stores in six states, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
Regan and Kelly collected donations at check-out and helped with in-store events, including raffles and bake sales.
Lawrence Inserra, Jr., the chairman, chief executive officer and president of Inserra Supermarkets, presented a $500 check for the Lyndhurst Health Department Food Pantry to Health Coordinator Kristin Collette.
"The Inserra family and Inserra Supermarkets have always put the community first in everything they've done," Inserra Supermarkets' Chief Operating Officer Ron Onorato said.
Collette also thanked the Lyndhurst Woman's Club.
"The Lyndhurst Woman's Club puts so much time and effort into the food pantry," Lyndhurst Health Coordinator Kristin Collette told Daily Voice. "They organize events, get donations and distribute food."
The special edition Cheerios boxes are exclusive to ShopRite. Each of the 40 winning stores got two employees on theirs.
