The one-time resident and Paterson, N.J., native turns 30 on Friday.
Cruz, who was born Nov. 11, 1986, is an American football wide receiver for the New York Giants.
He attended Paterson Catholic High School and went on to complete a post-graduate semester at Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine.
He played football, and earned a college degree, at the University of Massachusetts.
Later, after being signed by the Giants, Cruz was seriously injured during a game and was sidelined for nearly two years.
He returned to NFL play in September in the Giants opener against the Dallas Cowboys when he scored a game-winning touchdown.
Cruz reportedly celebrated with a salsa dance.
He also is one of the founders of the “Young Whales” clothing line that includes shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.
He and Elaina Watley have a daughter, Kennedy..
