79-Year-Old Hoboken Woman Killed While Riding Bike Was Prominent Quilter In March 2004, Margaret "Peggy" McGeary, a Hoboken woman who was working as a sign-maker, was on foot when she was hit by an SUV. Incredibly, the then-64-year-old suffered no broken bones and was able to leave the hospital that day (although she would spend several months in physical therapy).  McGeary's injuries did leave her unable to continue working as a sign maker, but did not prevent her from pursuing her passion, quilting and sewing, as a full-time career. Click here for more.  Original story:  A woman died Monday morning when she was hit by a truck while riding a bicycle near the border between Union City and Jersey City, a spokeswoman for the Jersey City Police Department confirmed.  The woman, a 79-year-old Hoboken resident,  was struck around 10:17 a.m. as the truck was turning right onto Paterson Plank Road from Palisade Avenue.
