A Maywood driver whose Jeep hit a centuries-old borough home after he suffered a medical emergency had good fortune -- and a bunch of angels -- on his side. The 58-year-old motorist was "driving normally" when he was suddenly incapacitated while making a left from East Central Avenue onto Maywood Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, Police Chief Terence R. PD: Released Bergen Dealer Charged With Running Drug Factory Busted Again
An accused dealer was quickly back in business after being released pending trial for running a cocaine factory from his Maywood apartment, authorities said Saturday. New Jersey State Police originally raided the East Central Avenue apartment of Jabian Ortiz in August after learning that both they and Maywood detectives were investigating him. The raid turned up nearly half-pound of cocaine, some pot, drug-packaging materials and $23,000 in alleged proceeds, they said at the time. 70-Something Bergen Pedestrian Struck In Freakish Chain-Reaction Crash
A 78-year-old Maywood man was injured in a freak chain-reaction crash while protecting his dog from harm Sunday night, responders said. A 2012 Ford Explorer driven by a 17-year-old Rochelle Park man was headed west on East Central Avenue when it struck a legally parked vehicle that got pushed completely onto the sidewalk, hitting the victim as he walked his black Labrador shortly before 8:30 p.m., police said.
