North Bergen Man Charged In Car Crash That Killed Woman, 20
A North Bergen man who was involved in a June motor-vehicle crash that left a woman dead has been charged with death by auto and other offenses, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday. Fernando Batista, 24, was arrested Oct. 21 and was also charged with assault by auto and possession of marijuana. He was being held at the Hudson County jail. UPDATE: The woman who was in critical condition as a result of this accident died early Sunday, June 23. She was identified as Alyssa Matos. The accident was still under investigation and no charges had been filed as of June 24, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
