A driver for a local teen treatment facility sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl before she locked herself in a Dunkin' Donuts bathroom on Route 17 and got help, authorities said. Police found the girl after a security guard called them to the donut shop on southbound Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. An SUV plowed through the front door of a townhouse apartment, causing severe damage, at a recently built development in Wood-Ridge. Hit-And-Run Driver Nabbed On Route 17 After Injuring Hackensack Scooter Rider: Police
A hit-and-run driver was nabbed on southbound Route 17 after injuring an adult scooter rider in Hackensack over the weekend, authorities said. The 30-year-old city victim was struck by a Kia sedan at 1st Street and Essex Street just after 5 p.m. Saturday, Detective Capt. Michael Antista said. The 22-year-old driver from Newark fled the scene but was stopped by Wood-Ridge police nearly two miles away, the captain said. UPDATE: Authorities have the hit-and-run vehicle that struck and killed a 20-year-old wedding guest from Massachusetts outside a popular Route 17 catering hall Saturday night.
