Driver Extricated, Hospitalized After SUV Slams Into Downtown Ramsey Jewelry Store
A driver was extricated by firefighters and hospitalized with serious injuries early Saturday after a large SUV slammed into a jewelry store in Ramsey's downtown business district. It was shortly before 7 a.m. May 13, when the Mercedes-Benz GLS smashed through the front of Apolo Jewelers, between Bici Restaurant and a Delta gas station at Main and Arch streets. UPDATE: Yet another pedestrian who was struck trying to cross a deadly stretch of Route 17 in Ramsey suffered a gruesome fate, responders revealed. Both his lower left leg and part of his right foot were amputated after he was knocked over the highway divider, they said. Upper Saddle River Driver, 73, Struck By His Own SUV
A 73-year-old driver from Upper Saddle River was hospitalized after he was struck by his SUV on Thanksgiving, authorities said. The victim had gotten out of what he thought was his parked 2020 Land Rover near the corner of Lake Street and Pheasant Run when it began rolling and the driver's side door hit him shortly before 6 p.m., Detective Capt. Edward Kane said. Police found the victim conscious and alert with a hip injury, Kane said. Members of the Ramsey Ambulance Corps took him to Hackensack University Medical Center.

A Jeep landed on its side after hitting a rock wall late Thursday morning in Ramsey. The driver got OK and didn't require hospitalization following the rollover at Franklin Turnpike and East Main Street around 11:15 a.m., responders said. A driver was hospitalized after his BMW convertible slammed into a utility pole Saturday morning on Route 17 in front of a BMW dealership. "He's lucky to be alive," one responder said. Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. A Ramsey EMS worker who helped revive a 22-year-old man who went into cardiac at a local gym was among a group of heroes honored by the local Knights of Columbus. A driver was crushed beneath a pile of bricks that fell on him during a delivery Tuesday in Ramsey, authorities said. Ramsey Rescue Clears Chlorine-Laced Trash That Fell From Truck Near School
Hazardous materials technicians from the Ramsey Rescue squad cleared a pile of chlorine-laced trash that fell off the back of a garbage truck near an elementary school on Monday. Ramsey police, firefighters and Ambulance Corps members also responded to the Island Avenue incident near the Wesley D. Tisdale School. So did their colleagues from OEM, DPW and a Bergen County Hazmat team. "The scene has been mitigated without incident," the rescue squad reported. There were no injuries, the squad said.
