Utility Pole Crash Closes Route 4
Westbound Route 4 remained closed following a serious morning rush-hour crash. Multiple victims were brought to Hackensack University Medical Center by Englewood Health EMS after a Lincoln MKC slammed into a pole, downing wires, shortly after 8 a.m. The westbound highway remained closed near Jones Road in Englewood while PSE&G completed repairs. The eastbound side was temporarily closed to get emergency vehicles through. The Bergen County Sheriff's Office was investigating the cause. Englewood police and firefighters also responded. Fire Doused At Jewish School In Clifton
A transformer fire downed power lines and extended to the exterior of a private Jewish school in Clifton. The blaze outside the K-8 Clifton Cheder, a religious elementary school on Industrial Avenue, broke out just after noon and went to two alarms within 20 minutes. PSE&G cut the power as firefighters doused heavy flames on the outside and roof of the two-story brick school building. They had the fire knocked down in an hour. No injuries were reported. The building sustained smoke and water damage but none from fire, responders said.

SUV Driver Hospitalized After Shattering Utility Pole In Ridgewood
A driver was hospitalized after her SUV slammed head-on into a utility pole in Ridgewood over the July 4th weekend. The Honda CRV rammed the pole in front of a Berkshire Road home near Grove Park on Sunday afternoon. The Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the driver to The Valley Hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. Business at a popular Bergen County restaurant was disrupted when a tractor-trailer driver making a U-turn ripped down utility lines. No injuries were reported in the 11:45 a.m. crash outside Nellie's Place in Waldwick on Wednesday. Owner Chris Roche, who was forced to close the popular Franklin Turnpike eatery during the noontime rush, said he expected to reopen on Thursday. Truck Downs Wires, Closes Busy Thoroughfare In Ridgewood
A truck snapped a utility pole in half, downing wires and temporarily blocking access to a Ridgewood school on Monday. The crash occurred on East Glen Avenue near Quackenbush Place just off northbound Route 17 shortly after 9:30 a.m. The driver wasn't injured. The death of a Bergen County teenager in a house fire has staggered many in the community where she was raised, as well as others from area towns and beyond. An apparently accidental weekend fire that claimed the life of a Bergen County teenager has staggered many in the community where she was raised, as well as others from area towns and beyond. Riley Boyle, 17, was in the shower when the fire broke out close to the rear entrance of the 2½-story Bonnie Way home around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, responders said. An SUV clipped a utility pole and landed on its side in Washington Township, sending the driver to the hospital. Firefighters doused a heavy morning house blaze in Hackensack. Flames had spread from the second floor to the attic when firefighters responded to an 8:11 call at the 2½-story wood-frame home on Fair Street just off Lodi and East State streets on Sunday, April 3, Hackensack Fire Capt. UPDATE: Two firefighters were injured battling an afternoon house fire next to a Ukrainian church and elementary school in Passaic, authorities said.
