Loaded Guns, Pot, Mushrooms Lead To Arrests Of North Bergen Men Following Fairview PD Stop
A Fairview police officer found a North Bergen ex-con and a companion with 22 pounds of pot, six pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, two loaded guns and more during a traffic stop, authorities said.
Officer Sebastian Castano immediately caught a whiff of both raw and burnt marijuana from inside the 2019 Mercedes Benz with New York plates that he stopped on Bergen Boulevard at Cliff Street, Capt. Michael Martic said.
Several large zip-locking bags of pot were scattered in plain view on the floor of the rear seat, the captain said.

A Fairview pizzeria manager was injured and a customer jailed on robbery charges after they tangled over the tip jar, authorities said.
John N. Pineda, 23, told police he went to Villa Pizza on Anderson Avenue expecting to pay five bucks for two slices, Capt. Michael Martic said.
He got a bill for $6 instead.
Pineda told police that the manager, Fares Muhana, informed him that the price had changed from $2.50 a slice to $3 since last week, the captain said.
Pineda said he only had a five-dollar bill on him. Muhana said he was still a buck short.

Fairview police seized $18,322 from a Washington Heights driver who claimed to have gotten the cash from a "guy on the street" for whom he was supposed to buy a vehicle, authorities said.
The only problem: Luis A. Tavarez, 28, couldn't provide a name, phone number, receipt, text threads or any other information to corroborate his story, Capt. Michael Martic said.
