Avelo Slashes Flight Routes As ICE Deportation Flights Fuel Boycott
Avelo Airlines is shutting down its West Coast commercial flights as the carrier doubles down on East Coast operations and faces growing criticism over its deportation flights. An Avelo spokesperson confirmed the end of its Western operations to the Daily Voice on Tuesday, July 15. The Houston-based budget airline will close its hub outside of Los Angeles in Burbank, California, by December. Lucille Howe (McElhaney) was born in Helena, MT in 1928 to James Lewis McElhaney and Dorothy Beatrice Stapleton. She was a third-generation descendant of the original pioneers of the Helena Valley (on her father’s side) and Walla Walla, WA (on her mother’s side). And true to her roots, Lucille lived her 91½ years with a pioneering, adventurous spirit. Lucille became an angel in heaven on April 5, 2020, due to conditions related to her age and not COVID-19. North Jersey Olympic Hopeful Goes Global
A talented teen gymnast with North Jersey roots is going global as an Olympic hopeful representing Barbados with her entry in two elite competitions. Olivia Kelly, 16, of Mahwah, will soon participate in the 2022 Pan-American Masters Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the 2022 FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, England.
