A driver was killed in a crash involving two tractor-trailers on the New York State Thruway early Saturday, June 21, New York State Police said. The wreck happened around 3:13 a.m. near Exit 12 in Clarkstown, Rockland County, according to state police. Investigators said a passenger vehicle and two tractor-trailers were involved. The driver of the passenger vehicle was confirmed dead at the scene. All southbound lanes of the NYS Thruway/I-87 remain closed at Exit 14 as of Saturday morning. A speeding driver escaped serious injury, but not traffic citations, after police say he caused a crash involving two tractor-trailers Tuesday morning, Dec. 3 on I-87 in Rockland County. Joseph T. Bonomi of Washingtonville, was cited for speeding and moving from the lane unsafely, and treated at Westchester Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries following the crash in the southbound lanes in Hillburn, State Police said. A man who was involved in a minor crash on the New York Thruway was killed when he stepped out of his vehicle to inspect the damage and was struck by a 2018 Ford SUV. Saul Clark, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, had gotten out of his vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-87 in West Nyack when he was struck by the passing SUV driven by a Nyack woman just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said. A Bergen County man was identified by authorities as one of the two people killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash overnight in New York. George Gonzalez, 68, of Dumont, was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-87 in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, when he drove into a 2022 Nissan Altima around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Tuxedo, New York State Police said. A 36-year-old Newark man died after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a collision with another vehicle in Yonkers, N.Y., over the weekend, authorities said. Juan A. A Bergen County man was busted with more than three pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on I-87 over the weekend, New York State Police said on Monday. Troopers stopped Bergenfield resident Derrick Vaz, 52, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Saturday for an alleged vehicle-and-traffic violation.
