Two Passaic residents and one from Wayne were charged with stabbing one of two city men during what authorities said was a planned attack. Being held in the Passaic County Jail pending initial court appearances this Wednesday in Superior Court in Paterson are Sergio Xochiulacuamatzi, 26, Christian Martinez, 21, both from Passaic, and Richard Arriaga, 25, of Wayne. A 49-year-old Passaic pedestrian who was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver died of his injuries, authorities said. Charges against whoever was responsible will include death by auto (vehicular homicide) following the death of Paresh Rana. Rana died Tuesday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. A driver from Spain was behind the wheel of an SUV that struck and killed a 64-year-old woman in Passaic before dawn Wednesday, authorities said. Mary Hernandez of Passaic was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital shortly after the 6:05 a.m. crash in the 200 block of Gregory Avenue, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Dive Teams Try To Retrieve Man's Body From Passaic River
Authorities Monday morning were resuming efforts to retrieve a body in the Passaic River between Wallington and Passaic. It was immediately unclear whether it could possibly be a man who Garfield police were told jumped from a bridge over the river the night before.
