A 33-year-old driver from Englewood whose van was parked across the right lane and shoulder of the northbound Garden State Parkway in Clifton was killed when it was rammed by a pickup truck before dawn, State Police said. Andres Valencia-Castano, 33, of Englewood was behind the wheel of a Dodge minivan that was parked across the right lane and shoulder when it was struck at 3:47 a.m. just south of Exit 154 on Sunday, Dec. 3, NJSP Trooper Troy McNair said. Fuel Truck Crashes Through Fence, Clips Pole, Nearly Hits Elmwood Park Home
A single-axle tanker truck filled with heating oil sideswiped a utility pole, crashed through a chain link fence and finally stopped short of hitting a house near a Garden State Parkway overpass in Elmwood Park on Monday. No injuries were reported in the Nov. 20 mishap in the 900 block of River Drive near the Garden Drive intersection. No oil leaked from the Fairclough fuel truck out of Paterson, either. A driver who crashed into multiple state police vehicles in Whippany Township remains at large after leading a brief pursuit before abandoning his vehicle and getting into another on Route 78, Monday, Nov. 20, authorities said. A missing Rockland County girl died when she was struck on the Garden State Parkway by two vehicles -- one of which kept going -- just before dawn Thursday, authorities said. The 14-year-old victim from Chestnut Ridge was pronounced dead on the darkened southbound highway near Exit 171 south of the James Gandolfini Service Area in Montvale shortly after 5 a.m. Nov. 16, they said. A Texas man has been sentenced to nine years in New Jersey State Prison for fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash along the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. A school bus overturned in a crash with a passenger car on the Garden State Parkway Tuesday, Nov. 14, leaving three students, a school aide, and the driver injured, New Jersey State Police said.
