Familiar Foe Nabbed With Knife Following Failed McDonald's Bathroom Robbery Bid: Hackensack PD
An ex-con with the proverbial arm's-length rap sheet unsuccessfully tried to rob a man at knifepoint in the bathroom of a Hackensack McDonald's, authorities said. Shajee Jackson, 30, wasn’t difficult to identify following the aborted holdup at the Essex Street eatery at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13. Calling him "known to police" would be an understatement. Plump Fragrance Thieves Flee Bergen Mall Ulta In U-Haul, Store's 3rd Big Theft In Two Months

For the second time this month -- and the third in nine weeks -- thieves hit the Ulta Beauty Store on the Maywood side of Bergen Town Center. This time it was women, two of them, both black, heavyset and wearing hats and masks, Maywood Police Chief Terence Kenny said. The getaway car? A U-Haul truck. The brazen pair fled south on Route 17 after snatching $3,500 worth of fragrances shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the chief said. Responding officers who …

Passaic House Fire Doused
Friends said a woman and her teenage children lost most of their belonging when a July 4th weekend fire damaged their Passaic home. Firefighters quickly got to the Third Street address off Essex Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. and had the fire under control in barely a half-hour. They limited the fire damage to the first floor, where the blaze apparently began, and the second floor, which sustained heavy smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Clifton, Paterson and Wallington. City fire officials were investigating the cause. The 3rd…

Paramus Police Pursuit: Car Thieves Left Ski-Masked Partner Behind
Two masked car thieves approached by police in a Paramus neighborhood in the middle of the night left behind their partner, who was arrested while they eluded pursuing officers, authorities said. Police began searching for a black Range Rover after a Route 17 Exxon station attendant said they stole gas just after 3 a.m. Tuesday, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. They got another call just before 4 a.m. of two occupants from a similar vehicle walking through residents’ driveways on Highland Avenue, he said. Officer William Stallone found the parked Range Rover – which had been reported …
