Coffee With A Cop: Bergen Sheriff Adds Twist To Help Veterans, Homeless In Need Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton is adding a layer to the popular “coffee with a cop” campaign -- both literally and figuratively. Cureton is asking residents and merchants to bring along a new or slightly used coat -- to be donated to help veterans in need and the homeless stay warm -- in exchange for some chit-chat and java. “We’re also collecting hats, scarves and gloves,” the sheriff said. Police: Bergen Worker Caught Spitting In Officers’ Coffee An employee at a Park Ridge Starbucks was caught spitting into police officers’ orders, authorities said. Kevin Trejo, 21, of Westwood was arrested Monday and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer with bodily fluid, tampering and creating a hazardous condition, Police Chief Joseph Madden said. Authorities “received information that an employee of a local coffee shop was spitting in the drinks of law enforcement that patronized the establishment,” Madden said.
