Fire Ravages Trash-Filled Garfield Home, Cat Hospitalized GARFIELD, N.J. -- "Collyer's Mansion" conditions hampered firefighters who battled flames that tore through a Garfield home late Tuesday. The two-alarm blaze began in the basement around 10:30 p.m. and quickly blew through the roof, responders said.
