Joining their mom, Tamara, at work on Thursday was particularly exciting for Sydney, her sister, Amanda, and her brother, Devin, among dozens of other youngsters.

Bergen County Excecutive Jim Tedesco and the Board of Freeholders sponsored the special day, featuring several agencies, for county employees and their offspring.

Sydney Strauss, who turns 7 this Sunday, enjoyed the robot Gizmo "because he can talk and he's smart."

Gizmo asked Amanda what she wants to be when she grows up.

"I want to be a singer," she said, prompting Gizmo to break into song.

The robot then praised her choice and reminded her to stay healthy by eating well and not smoking.

"They also loved the animal shelter with the live animals," Tamara Strauss said of her brood. "Devin climbed on all of the trucks.

"It was such a great day -- my kids enjoy it so much. They wait for it every year."

Tedesco capped the special morning with a lunch for the youngsters and their parents.

"I'm proud to work for such a wonderful county," Strauss said.
