Woman whose Mercedes hit Vitamin Shoppe sign on Route 4 was drunk, police say

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A woman whose Mercedes veered off Route 4 and smashed into the base of the Vitamin Shoppe’s sign was drunk and on the suspended list at the time, Paramus police said.

Michelle Egan, 36, of Elmwood Park was treated for injuries by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center shortly after the 11 p.m. crash Wednesday.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle left the roadway, struck the curb, a stop sign, and a tree before hitting the store sign.

Paramus police charged Egan with DWI, reckless driving and driving on the suspended list. The vehicle had to be towed, they said.
