Leyka Trinidad, 23, remained held on $125,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
Police responding to a domestic call on Halstead Avenue on March 24 found the 29-year-old victim from Queens sitting on the front steps, his hand wrapped in a towel.
Inside their friend’s apartment, “there was blood and vomit all over the floor and a door off its hinges,” Wallington Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.
The victim was treated at a nearby hospital for a 2½-inch gash on his hand, Kudlacik said.
Meanwhile, officers arrested Trinidad, who “became belligerent and said she did it in self-defense,” the lieutenant said.
At headquarters, she “threw a chair in the processing area, kicked a wall and spit at an officer while being placed in the holding cell,” Kudlacik said. “Then she ripped out the camera.”
At the Bergen County Jail, she tampered with a fire sprinkler, setting it off, authorities added.
The indictment charges Trinidad with attempting serious bodily injury to the victim, possession of a knife by a felon, menacing and threatening to kill a female Wallington police officer, damaging property and causing a false alarm.
