A borough police officer found the window that 19-year-old Star Johnson broke in through, Capt. Robert Kaiser said Wednesday.
With assistance from the Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification, police pulled a latent fingeprint from the outside of the window, he said.
The State Police laboratory tied the print to the 5-foot-5-inch, 135--pound Johnson, who, records show, had prior arrests for drug- and burglary-related offenses.
Palisades Park police picked up Johnson last week and turned her over to their South Hackensack colleagues, who charged her with burglary and theft, Kaiser said.
Johnson spent five days in the Bergen County before a judge released her under New Jersey's 2017 bail reform law pending further court action.
