Westwood Police Officers Christopher Horst, Richard Antonacci and Dean McCarroll found the victim at the Washington Avenue main entrance just before 6 o’clock.
She was unresponsive, they said, so they immediately began CPR. Within minutes, ambulances from Valley Hospital and Hackensack University Medical Center pulled up.
The CPR, in tandem with defibrillation, restored the woman’s pulse and breathing, Sgt. Michael Pontillo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
After several anxious minutes, owner Lee Tremble returned to the popular restaurant’s bar area, smiling.
“They brought her back,” Tremble said, hugging the teary-eyed waitress who he said made the 911 call. “It looks like she’s going to be OK.”
Authorities ordinarily wait 24 hours before making such determinations, but a medic involved said the woman was doing fine at The Valley Hospital and that it appeared to be “a good save.”
Tremble said that was because the Westwood officers “got here so quick.”
