Westwood police: Drunk crashes car into tree, attacks limo driver, passenger

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: An intoxicated driver rammed his car into a pole in Westwood, then ran down Kinderkamack Road, dove onto the front of a car service vehicle and had to be subdued by several officers after breaking the windshield with his head and threatening to “eat [the driver] alive,” Chief Frank Regino confirmed Monday.

Following the early-morning crash at Bergen Street and Lexington Avenue this weekend, 19-year-old Christopher J. Meaney of Goshen, N.Y.,  bailed out and began running down Kinderkamack Road, the chief said.

The frightened car service driver, seeing him coming, slammed on his brakes. But Meaney kept going, diving headlong into the windshield.

Meaney then rammed his head repeatedly into the glass before breaking it, then threatened to “eat [him] alive,” the chief confirmed.

The driver and his fare fended off the attack until they’re spotted by the Westwood officer dispatched to the accident call.

Several officers eventually have to help subdue Meaney, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Regino said.

Meaney, who describes himself on his Facebook page as a fan of the TV show “Dexter” (about a serial killer who hunts serial killers), was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and DWI, among other counts. His parents posted $5,000 bail to secure Meaney’s release pending a hearing.
