Update: Westwood ambulance, SUV collide

ANOTHER CVP SCOOP: An SUV collided with a Westwood borough ambulance after the driver tried to beat a traffic light at the corner of Lake Street and Broadway early this afternoon, witnesses told oplice.

The ambulance crew was headed north on Broadway, responding to a mutual aid call in Hillsdale around 12:15, when it slowed almost to a stop at the Lake Street light and then proceeded through after it turned green, Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Meanwhile, a River Vale woman driving the SUV west on Lake Street “apparently tried to make the light and accelerated through the amber part of the signal,” the chief said.

The woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with minor injuries by an HUMC rig.
