The rig was headed west, towing a Jeep, when the driver apparently lost his power steering.

After hitting two cars, the Ford careened across the bridge, knocking a 13-foot section of the south railing to the riverbank below.

The pickup then landed against metal scaffolding that holds a billboard alongside the bridge.

The driver for Lennies East Coast Auto Transport of Long Island climbed out and onto the scaffolding.

A heavy wrecker pulled out the pickup.

Three occupants of the two struck cars were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that police said weren’t life-threatening.

Traffic was stopped in both directions for 3½ hours.
