King Jamol Perry II remains free on $100,000 bail following his indictment last week in Hackensack on charges assigned out of Passaic County.
The four-count indictment accuses Perry of having sex with the girl during the first four months of 2006, when she was 16.
Additional charges involve engaging in sexual conduct that “would impair or debauch the morals of a child,” including “sexual touching, sexual penetration, kissing, nudity, sexual conversations,” while having supervisory power over the alleged victim and a legal duty to care for her.
The alleged acts were “an unauthorized exercise of his official functions,” the indictment charges.
Prosecutors said the woman, now 22, told a former coach, who urged her to go to district officials. They, in turn, notified law enforcement authorities.
The 6-foot-2 Perry, of Passaic, turned himself in with his lawyer on June 21 and was arrested by detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit. The district suspended him without pay pending the outcome of the case.
A judge then assigned the case to Bergen County.
His attorney said Perry, a former standout hurdler and long-jumper at the Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne, “adamantly denies the allegations.”
