Arrested while allegedly trying to fence stolen goods in Queens were Jamelle Singletary, 26, and Lawal Erskine and Jamal Sermon, both 30, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli (photo, above) told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.
All have been known to police — among them, Singletary, who received probation for his role in the October 2012 theft of a 600-pound safe from Connecticut (SEE: Judge nixes Englewood burglar’s plea withdrawal).
Sermon, meanwhile, was one of 10 people charged in an indictment returned by a grand jury in Hackensack last month with using an Englewood flophouse as a gambling den, recording studio and marijuana stashhouse (SEE: Indictment names 10 in Englewood gambling den bust).
Search warrants were executed in Englewood and Teaneck in connection with last night’s arrests. Much of the recovered jewelry was stolen in burglaries outside of Bergen County, law enforcement sources acknowledged.
Additional charges and arrests were expected, as was an official announcement this Monday of the arrests.
