The bust occurred just after midnight Friday during a $62,000 sale of raw heroin, which Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said had a street value of $350,000.

Members of Molinelli’s Narcotic Task Force quickly moved in and siezed Edwin Hernandez, 25, of downtown Manhattan (above, middle), and Paulino Vela-Garza, 50, of Laredo, TX (above, right), into custody, the prosecutor said.

The third man, 30-year-old Salvador Moreno-Rodriguez, also of Laredo (above, left), took off toward the rear of a nearby apartment building, then jumped off the parking deck, Molinelli said.

Moreno-Rodriguez was taken in custody to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries sustained during the flight and arrest, the prosecutor said.

Hernendez and Vela-Garza remained held on $200,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail.

Moreno-Rodriguez was being held on $250,000 in the county lockup.

All three are charged with possession with the intent to distribute heroin. Moreno-Rodriguez also was charged with eluding.

Members of the task force — including detectives from the prosecutor’s office, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Hackensack police — began investigating the trio after undercover agents made contact with Hernandez about the purchase of “a large quantity of raw heroin,” Molinelli said.
