Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino were among those authorities getting their own plans in place for emergency services and response.

Physicians, nurses, and emergency medical personnel needing emergency travel assistance within Bergen County should contact the sheriff’s 24-Hour Operations Division at (201) 646-2200.

"With increased congestion across available public transit options and major roads and bridges, the safety of residents, visitors, and the traveling public is paramount," Tedesco said. "County authorities will be working with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and all hospitals within Bergen County to anticipate and address any impact on timely emergency response or the delivery of emergency services."

Anyone reporting an emergency should dial 911.

Those with non-emergent issues, however, should call the main number of his or her local police department.
