SWAT team called to Rochelle Park, rifle owner briefly taken into custody

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: A SWAT team secured a Rochelle Park neighborhood Tuesday night after a 75-year-old man with loaded rifles in his home threatened to become violent during an argument with his wife, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.

The incident on tiny Hahn Avenue near the Garden State Plaza ended peacefully, although the man, Robert Brown, “was a little belligerent and had to be taken into custody,” a ranking Bergen County Police officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“The guns stayed inside the house the entire time,” he said.

Local police handled the matter once they had Brown outside, the officer said.

Police later confirmed that no charges would be brought.
