“There’s been no arrest yet, but we have a suspect,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning while reporting the shooting of Olga Bariso.

Bariso was in surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center this morning after being shot several times in her Union Street home, Molinelli said earlier. Her condition couldn’t be determined tonight.

The suspect was soon in the custody of Molinelli’s detectives at their Paramus office before being taken to Hackensack for evidence collection, a law enforcement source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Bariso lives at 141 Union Street, two doors down from St. Francis de Sales Church and cemetery, with her husband, Joseph, and one of their sons, Charles.

Their grandson, Joseph, lives in the basement, a family friend told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The Barisos’ other son got a call from his brother early this morning telling him that their mother had been shot but was conscious when taken to the hospital, the friend said.

911 calls were received at 6:21 a.m., Molinelli said.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 unit searched the area while the office’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.

The Bergen County Police Department blocked off the area at Prospect and Woodside avenues.
