The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious head and leg injuries after being struck by the dark-colored, four-door sedan in the northbound lane outside 52 Woodbine Street, south of West Broad Street, around 7:45 p.m.

He was “attempting to stop traffic to allow a truck to exit a nearby business” when he was struck, according to a joint release from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli and Bergenfield Police Chief Michael Carr.

“The vehicle continued north and fled the scene,” it says.

Local business surveillance cameras captured images of the crash.

“The vehicle may have damage to its front end on the driver’s side,” the release says.

The prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was working with Bergenfield police on the case.

Anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help the investigation is urged to call the FAIU at (201) 226-5500, the prosecutor’s Tips Line at (201) 226-5532 or Bergenfield police at (201) 387-4000.
