Rahvae A. Richards of Berry Street was arrested last July 29 after after police from Florida investigating another matter in Paterson tipped off their Hackensack colleagues.

Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said the boy, in an interview with city detectives and investigators from his Special Victims Unit, provided “specific details about having been touched in an inappropriate manner.”

The tip “was initially provided to the Hackensack Police Department by the Coral Springs, Florida, Police Department, which became aware of it while conducting an investigation unrelated to the incident in New Jersey,” Molinelli said.

The indictment returned today accuses Richards of touching the boy’s penis and having him touch his in incidents in Hackensack and Paterson. It also says he attempted to anally rape the youngters.

Richards also is charged with two counts of impairing the morals of a child.

After spending two months in the Bergen County Jail, Richards posted $100,000 bail and was released from the Bergen County Jail.
