A parent contacted police after catching the girl sending images to Joshua A. Vangorden in January 2013, authorities said at the time.
City detectives then went to Burlington County, seized digital evidence and arrested him on charges of sexual assault and child endangerment.
Vangorden, 22, who had worked the previous two years at Fort Dix, posted $200,000 bail the following day and was released from the Bergen County Jail.
The indictment returned this week enhances the primary charge to aggravated sexual assault on the girl, who is now 14.
It says Vangorden “engaged in the simulation of a prohibited sexual act” while recording it, was in possession of the recording(s) and impaired the girl’s morals.
