Mike S. Laguerre, 20, also was carrying several debit cards in five different names, along with various prescription drugs, Capt. Robert Kaiser said Thursday.

Laguerre "attempted to withdraw money with a fraudulent check that was cashed earlier in the day at the Wells Fargo bank," Kaiser said.

"While being interviewed by officers at the bank he provided them with a fake name and then fled on foot," the captain said.

They grabbed Laguerre after a brief chase and charged him with theft by deception, hindering apprehension, resisting arrest, trafficking in personal information and illegally possessing prescription drugs.

Laguerre was released, under New Jersey's 2017 bail reform law, pending further court action.
