South Hackensack Police Chief Michael Frew
The way for Frew’s return was cleared in December when Superior Court Judge Roy McGeady found him not guilty of grabbing a subordinate, pinning him to a wall and assaulting him.
The chief said Officer Glenn Evans hit him with his elbow and that he was restraining him at the time.
McGeady said the versions were so different that no other verdict could have been reached.
Frew was meeting at Town Hall with Mayor Walter Eckel, Jr. this morning and is officially back on the job, a township spokeswoman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Several issues, including pay and benefits the chief lost during the suspension, were being resolved.
