Six years for day care worker who fondled boys

Want a good reason to check out your day care provider nine ways to Sunday? An illegal immigrant who worked as a helper at his uncle’s day care center for two years was sentenced to six years in prison for fondling two young boys.

Dario Fernando Silveria of Paterson admitted to touching the genitals of both boys — 4 and 5 years old — during nap time at Merry-Go-Round Child Care Center in Teaneck after the younger child told his mother.

Silveria, 32, apologized to the families through a Spanish translator, during his sentencing in a Hackensack courtroom.

The families could get their wish of never having Silveria walk area streets again. Once his sentence is over, he likely will be deported.

Merry-Go-Round cares for dozens of children between 4 months and 5 years old, directors there said.

Silvera had been there about two years, they said.
