"Being a small town, we don't have all the optons and luxuries afforded to the larger ones that surround us," says the post, with a photo of a borough police cruiser passing a local ballfield. "But we have a very strong sense of community in our little town.

"Every time a tragedy occurs, like the one in California, our police force makes it a point to let us know that they are there. We see you and we thank you Rochelle Park PD."

Flannelly immediately forwarded the post to all of his officers.

"There's not much that throws me anymore, but that one stopped me in my tracks," Flannelly told Daily Voice. "Police get beat up all over the place -- you almost get used to it.

"To see something simple like that -- the fact that someone took the time to say it -- that makes all the difference. It's really nice to see our efforts recognized and appreciated.

"To my community: My police officers are there for you 24/7. You can count on it."
