Officer Richard Carrion spotted 56-year-old Calvin Glover working the Hackensack lot, where jurors, lawyers and other people doing business in court park their cars, Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff said.
Carrion is assigned to the Homeland Security Unit of the sheriff’s office and was on perimeter duty at the time, Saudino said.
After detaining the suspect, Carrion found hiim carrying items taken from one of the cars, he said.
Glover, of Paterson, is being held just up the street — at the Bergen County Jail — on $10,000 bail, charged with auto burglary.
Records show Glover has been arrested several times the past two years.
He was only just released from the jail after serving two months on a lewdness conviction out of Little Ferry. That came after another two-month stint for harrassment, also out of Little Ferry.
“More than 1 million people conduct business at this court house each year,” Saudino said. “Unfortunately, when you have that type of volume, crimes are going to be committed.”
The sheriff noted that jurors “are people who take time out of their lives to serve a civic duty and should not have to worry about crimes being committed against them while they are here.”
