Saddle Brook police: dealer, 17, five users arrested

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 17-year-old boy was carrying $1,000 in cash, several small bags of pot and a digital scale when a Saddle Brook police sergeant found him and a girl sitting in a parked car at 4:30 in the morning, authorities said today.

Sergeant Victor VanDyk was patrolling the property of the Saddle Brook Center off Route 46 when he spotted the 2009 Ford near the McDonalds.

The couple apparently was sharing a marijuana blunt and had Ziploc bags of marijuana in open view, Deputy Chief Robert White said.

The boy was taken into custody and served juvenile complaints for possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute the drug. The cash was also confiscated, White said.

The girl was taken to police headquarters and released to a guardian without any complaints signed, he said.

VanDyk made another overnight juvenile pot bust earlier this morning after White said he found five teens – three from Saddle Brook and two from Lodi – with pot in a parked 2013 Pontiac is the parking garage of the Park 80 West One commercial building on Pehle Avenue.

Drug complaints were signed against all five, who were released to their parents or guardians pending Family Court hearings in Hackensack.
