Rochelle Park shoplifting arrest leads to heroin, warrants

ANOTHER CVP EXCLUSIVE: A 26-year-old Englewood man who was grabbed for shoplifting nearly $300 worth of baby formula last night was carrying a hypodermic needle and a dozen bags of heroin — half of them already used — and was wanted on warrants, Rochelle Park police said.

Sgt. Glenn Brunet and Officer Donna Porcaro responded to the call of a shoplifter in custody at the Shop Rite loss prevention officer just before 9:30 p.m.

After a computer check found the warrants out of Elmwood Park and Paramus, they took Sheldon Saintfleurant into custody, Detective James DePreta told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

A search turned up the bags and a hypodermic needle, he said.

Saintfleurant, an unemployed widower with a history of drug-related offenses, was being held on $10,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with drug, parapernalia and hypodermic needle possession and failing to turn over drugs to police.

Shop Rite was expected to sign shoplifting complaint.
