Officers responding to the 7:50 p.m. call Monday night on Oldis Street found the 58-year-old driver's right leg wedged under the tire of his 1998 Jeep, which was still in reverse, Detective Sgt. James DePreta told Daily Voice.

The driver had gotten out to remove something that was blocking his driveway when he lost his balance and fell, DePreta said.

Officers secured the vehicle and removed him with help from responding EMTs.

The driver smelled of alcohol, so Officer Jared Shatkin gave him a field sobriety test, then took him into custody, the sergeant said. He was issued summonses for DWI and careless driving.

The man, who DePreta said had some minor abrasions on his leg, was released to a family member.
