Officer Ryan Burke pulled the car over on Rochelle Avenue because it didn’t have a front license plate, Detective James DePreta told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. A computer check found that the rear plate was reported stolen out of Lodi, he said.

Police were questioning the driver, 23-year-old Joselvin Febrillet, when his girlfriend, Tiffany Rosario, 22, showed up and tried to hide the skimmer, DePreta said.

Febrillent was charged with possession of a credit card scanner, storing encoded credit card information and receiving stolen property.

Rosario was charged with tampering with evidence.

Both were released on court summonses.

Febrillent “utilized his position as a server to victimize unsuspecting patrons,” DePreta said. “[He] skimmed victims’ cards and acquired the encoded information, which can later be re-coded to blank cards and used against the victims’ account.”

Detectives were trying to identify victims.
