Investigators from both departments watched for five months before hitting two residences at once at 8 o’clock last night, Rochelle Park Detective Jim DePreta told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Arrested were Marisol Burgos, 42, and Nelson Bonilla, 44, both of Rochelle Park, along with Donna Deleo, 50, and 51-year-old Sean Ryan, both of Pompton Plains.

Around 3 p.m. yesterday, Rochelle Park Detective Chris Bermudez and Officers Ken Stapleton and Ed Kukalski, along with Pequannock Detective Jim Mandeville, began watching the suspects, DePreta said.

At the same time, DePreta said he joined an arrest team made up of members of the Pequannock Police Department, led by Detective Lt. Mike Fairweather, outside a residence on Evans Place in Pompton Plains.

Five hours later, the surveillance team signaled their colleagues that Burgos was driving a 2003 Mazda MPV headed their way. The team had followed the vehicle there from East Forest Place in Rochelle Park, DePreta said.

Moments later, members of the arrest team emerged from undercover vehicles and arrested Burgos, whom DePreta identified as the dealer, and Deleo and Ryan, who he said were buyers, during a crack cocaine sale.

The officers found juveniles in the car who were involved in the crime, he said.

Warrants were executed on the car and the Pompton Plains apartment, where detectives seized crack and cash.

Burgos, who DePreta said was carrying 18 baggies of crack, was charged with various drug possession and distribution offense, as well as child endangerment and employing a juvenile in a crime.

She was being held in the Morris County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Deleo and Ryan were charged with possession of narcotics and tampering with evidence: DePreta said they tried throwing the crack out an open window.

Designated guardians took custody of the juveniles.

Over in Rochelle Park, Officers Jared Shatkin and James Lavigna arrested Nelson Bonilla in front of his East Forest Place home. Several warrants for his arrest were outstanding, DePreta said.

Officers involved in the Pequannock bust then went to East Forest Place, where a search turned up 15 bottles unmarked bottles of Oxycodone / Endocet. Baggies, bottles, and other packaging materials were also seized, along with a small amount of marijuana and $1,200 in suspected drug proceeds, DePreta said.

Bonilla was taken to the Bergen County Jail on an open warrant, he said.

Additional charges against him and Burgos were expected.

“Due to the large quantity and variety of recovered prescription pills, our investigation is continuing,” Rochelle Park Police Chief Robert Flannelly added.

Flannelly thanked Pequannock police and commended all of the detectives and patrol officers involved in the busts.
