For a fee of from $150 to $250 each, George Bello, 44, and others — including Frederick Prinz of Marmora — sold “OSHA 30” cards and split the proceeds, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said this afternoon.
Prinz, 38, was certified to issue the special cards to workers who’d completed a 30-hour training course through a special Occupational Safety and Health Administration program out of the Rocky Mountain Education in Red Rocks, Colorado, Fishman said. He previously pleaded guilty to his role and was sentenced to two years probation in January.
A federal judge in Camden set Bello’s sentencing for Sept. 21.
Fishman credited special agents of the Department of Labor-Office of Inspector General, Office of Labor Racketeering and Fraud Investigations with the investigation leading to today’s guilty plea. He also thanked OSHA for its assistance.
The government is represented by V. Grady O’Malley, senior litigation counsel of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Organized Crime/Gangs Unit in Newark.
