The thieves hit the Blue Water Divers store on Route 17 last Thursday, Rochelle Park Detective Jim DePreta told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon (photos below, left).
While the larger of the two men pulled a clerk to the opposite side of the store, distracting her, a bandit in a striped shirt cut wire locks securing eight GoPro Hero 3+ cameras, DePreta said.
He handed the cameras to a female accomplice, who stuffed them into a black shoulder bag, the detective said.
The team then pulled the same stunt, taking four cameras, at the Harley Davidson dealership on Essex Street minutes later, he said.

A fourth member joined the crew at JPR Cycles on Park Avenue later that day, Lyndhurst Police Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.
A man and woman came in first, asking the lone employee about various items, Valente said. The man then used his cellphone and, moments later, two men entered, he said. One was involved in the Rochelle Park theft, as were the first two.
While the two men kept the attendant occupied, the coupler took three GoPro cameras, the captain said (top and below, right).
“The male cut off the locks while the female stuffed them into a shoulder bag,” the same as in Rochelle Park, he said.
The cameras are valued at $399 each.
Anyone with information that could help investigators in the case is asked to call either DePreta (201 587-0642) or Valente (201 939-9384).
