Julio Ponce, 31, of Clifton, is being held on $175,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail following his arrest yesterday after six days at large. The Peruvian national is charged with two burglaries, as well as theft, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.

He joins 27-year-old Guillermo Peraltanoesi of Paterson, an ex-con wanted on gun and drug charges who was arrested last Thursday morning by Rochelle Park officers following a pair of break-ins within a half-mile of one another.

Rochelle Park Detectives Jim DePreta and Chris Bermudez met with Clifton detectives and tracked down Ponce through acquaintances and family members.

Around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, they arrested him at his sister’s house in Clifton, where, Chief Robert Flannelly told CLIFFVIEW PILOT, he was hiding in a closet.
“This is just another example of outstanding police work,” Flannelly said last week. “It is my belief that if these men weren’t detected, they would have victimized many more of our residents.”
