Rapper K-Matic, girlfriend charged in Hackensack slashing

ONLY ON CLIFFVIEW PILOT: Two people were taken to the hospital with superficial slash wounds after several partiers — one a young rapper — got into a pre-dawn brawl that spilled into the parking lot of a Hackensack apartment complex, drawing police from several departments.

Arrested was 22-year-old Kadeem Clarke, 22, a self-described “rapper/poet” who lives in the apartment where the trouble began. Clarke is free on $50,000 bail, charged with aggravated assault and illegal weapons counts.

However, his girlfriend, 21-year-old Catherine Serrano, is still being held on $25,000 bail, charged with illegal weapons counts. Police said Serrano, of Jersey City, fetched a knife and gave it to Clarke after the fight broke out.

One person was slashed on the forehead and the other on the right side of the abdomen, according to a police report. Both were treated at Hackensack University Medical Center and released soon after the 2:10 a.m. incident, it said.

Both Clarke and Serrano were awaiting disposition of similar counts from another fight earlier this year.

“Someone asked me why get mad over little things in a relationship,” Clarke recently wrote on his Facebook page. “Because little things could become BIG things….”

Clarke also wrote: “Love hate me!!! so i gotta hate it back!!!!/ I bring my heart and my soul!! everytime i make a track!!!/”

And: “F*** bitches.”

Several more misogynist posts take aim at women and relationship — including “love aint what it seems to be………”

Those involved “got liquored up” in apartment at 340 Hudson Street overnight Saturday, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“One hit on another’s girlfriend, someone got a knife and police were called on a report of a large fight in the rear parking lot,” the source said.

Police from several departments rushed to the scene to assist their Hackensack counterparts — among them, Bergen County Police and their colleagues from Little Ferry and South Hackensack.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Clarke — who goes by the name K-Matic (not to be confused with the popular deejay) — was raised in Brooklyn. His music is R&B-flavored.

“I’m not a rapper, I’m a artist and a poet…,” he sings. “Sssshh: I keep the burners in a secret place / My empty shells is in a box / I never leave a trace … / Damn idiots.

“Ladies call me Peter Pan / Mainly cause I never land.”
