Prosecutor: Hackensack Laborer Charged With Sexually Touching Girl, 9

HACKENSACK, N.J. – A Hackensack laborer was ordered held without bail pending a court hearing on charges of inappropriately touching a 9-year-old girl last summer, authorities said Monday.

Carlos A. Yepez, 58, who is married, was taken into custody on Friday following an investigation that began in March, after authorities received the allegations, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.

He’s charged with sexual assault by sexual contact and child endangerment and remained held in the Bergen County Jail.

The charges stemmed from a joint investigation by members of Grewal’s office and city police, the prosecutor said.

A judge in Central Judicial Processing Court on Saturday ordered Yepez held pending a detention hearing next Monday.
