Prosecutor: Hackensack Housekeeper Abused Girl

HACKENSACK, N.J. – A Hackensack housekeeper was charged with child abuse after a young girl came to school with an injured leg, authorities said.

Maria Lema, 26, was arrested after Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal’s Special Victims Unit received a complaint from the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the prosecutor said Wednesday.

Lema, a divorced Ecuadoran native, was released pending a July 10 first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, he said.
